The Face of Yazz Model Competition 2012…

Shaky (Mr ‘Yazz’) first told me of his idea last year and I’ve been excited about this ever since. He’s got that rare energy and enthusiasm you don’t find very often. Yazz No1 Hair Studio is based in Rawdon, Guiseley and Yeadon, just down the road from 1 Click Photography HQ. The concept was simple – To find one man and one woman with that indefinable special quality who could then represent the brand of Yazz for one year.  I’ve known Shaky since our daughters became friends at Nursery and in that time he’s always been bringing back prestigious hair awards from events all of the country.

Now the problem with entering loads of hair awards is finding the models. A new competition, a new set of models and a new relationship has to be built up all over again. I know myself that when I work with models over time a relationship of trust develops and the end result is better pictures. (A classic example are the last Marilyn Monroe pictures shot in three sessions by Bert Stern – Arguably the most famous pictures of an Icon and these could only have come about because of a level of trust and intimacy which is built up over time.) So if one man and one woman could be found with that special quality, then they could represent the Yazz brand both locally and Nationwide. It would also be fitting if the models were local and not paid agency models. After all, the brand is about creating fabulous hair for it’s local clientele, so clearly the faces of Yazz should come from this this pool of talent.

So that was the concept – Then it was a simple question of prize and location. The Yazz HQ is based at LA Fitness in Yeadon, the perfect place to hold this event would be in the Ricochet courts. (One of only three in the country and, as I was to find out, a perfect size for a studio set-up)

The prize? – awesome…

Firstly, the winners get to represent Yazz no1 hair studio at various awards and events around the country, all expenses paid.

They’ll also have me to help them build up a considerable portfolio over the year since I’ll be documenting their progress.

They’ll receive free hair and beauty treatments for a year and free membership to LA Fitness.

An awesome prize and I’ve no doubt whatsoever that the lucky two who win this competition will have the time of their lives.

This week we’ll be narrowing the entrants down to the final 6 and then we’ll need your help to choose the big winners.
